Adventure Time Review: Season 6 Episode 15 (Nemesis)

Protective parents be trippin’ yo.

The Plot

A passionate man, who goes by the name “Peacemaster”, is rife with angst towards the Candy Kingdom. This fury is driven by the belief that there is dark magic and secrets afoot. He knows that PB spies on her citizens, and he knows that someone in her castle is an evil-doer. Will he succeed in unveiling the true face of the kingdom of candy? Or will Peppermint Butler take it upon himself to silence the issue?

Spoilers from here onwards…

Okay, so I’m quite torn about who to side with here:

• There’s Bubblegum and her candy citizens who follow her to no end. PB will do anything for the greater good, whether that be leaving someone to die so that others will survive, or kidnapping someone and running dangerous experiments on said someone to receive information that could prevent possible catastrophes in the future. People often say that Bubblegum is kind of “morally grey”; she does seemingly evil things for good, kind of. But no matter what, you rarely ever hear anyone call her out on it. Finn and Jake have shown concern before, but I assure you that Finn (I don’t know about Jake) would never turn his back on PB unless things got really donked up. And yes, she has a wacked out, kinda evil sociopath as a butler. Cute as he may be, he could be extremely dangerous were he to attack the Candy Kingdom.

And then…

• There’s Peacemaster, a guy who wants, well, peace; a world rid of evil, dark arts, and anything that could possibly influence his three kids in a bad way. Yup, he’s a family guy. Too bad these kids could care less about their father’s concern, and would honestly love to take part in some good ol’ dark arts. It’s kinda sad, really. I mean, sure, you could say that Peacemaster is kind of being a buttwad by shielding his kids so much, but to me it just means he cares. In fact, Pep But turning his kids into monsters really pissed me off.

So who do I side with?

Well, in this case, I’m gonna go with Peacemaster. It is true that PB oversteps boundaries on a far too regular basis, and honestly, I just can’t help but feel sorry for the guy.

So what did I think of the episode? I think it’s great! I was kinda becoming displeased with the lack of solid Adventure Time episodes as of late, and it felt good to see one that I actually wanted to talk about.

So what did you think of the episode? Did you shake a righteous fist of anger? Or perhaps sat back and enjoyed the episode with a bit of camomile tea? Let me know!

Did you enjoy this little ramble? If so, consider following The Critic’s Canvas for all your critical needs.

Chapter 9: Fears Unearthed is Available Now!

This one’s a tad late, but nonetheless, here it is! A new chapter of Marion’s Hideaway!

Turns out Uruthyn’s Hottest Volcano is really a steamy sauna where all the hippest Uruthynians go to chill out. Too bad Marion is such a self conscious weeaboo, right?

We walked out and observed our surroundings. We were inside the volcano, but there really weren’t many volcano-y things to look at. No lava, or death. You know, typical Mount Doom stuff.

You can read the full chapter here.

Chapter 8: Burning Time is Available Now!

It’s Hideaway Wednesday so here’s another chapter of Marion’s Hideaway!

Marion and Tuck find themselves riding an elevator up a volcano (totally normal, right?) and why not take advantage of this free time by bonding a bit!

The Uruthyn Times states, “The most enthralling elevator ride of the decade. Buckle your seat belts for maximum eyegasm, because this chapter will make love with your pupils.”

Here’s a little snippet to get your attention:

Sure enough, the elevator was air-conditioned. Tuck clicked a button marked “Ascend” and our trip began. I leaned against the wall and wiped my boots on the carpet, making a muddy mess out of what would’ve been a decently attractive facility.

Update: This is the last chapter that you’re gonna get for a while. I’m gonna be really busy come the next couple weeks or so, and I just can’t focus on writing for the novel at the moment. I’ll try as hard as I can to pick it up again soon.

Chapter 5: Welcome To Uruthyn is Available Now!

Sunday’s here, and with it comes a new chapter of Marion’s Hideaway!

The beginning of Marion and Tuck’s quest may seem a bit daunting, but no worries! Tuck is a walking encyclopedia!

I managed to keep my eyeballs in my head, however, the same could not be said for the breath in my lungs. Uruthyn was like nothing I had ever seen before.

Chapter 4: The Road Less Traveled is Available Now!

It’s Wednesday, so you know what that means! A new chapter of Marion’s Hideaway!

Marion sort of killed a guy at Tuck’s speech, and she really doesn’t understand how! Well, Tuck feels that desperate times call for desperate measures, and has decided to venture out into the deep danger of the outside to find a cure for Marion.

It’s just strange to think that Tuck had told me we would have to leave the Forest to get me “stabilized” or whatever he called it. You’d think I’d be excited, what with me having shown a nagging curiosity just earlier that day, and I probably would’ve been too had I even been informed of what this adventure would consist of.

You can read it here.

Chapter 3: A Question Ignited is Available Now!

Quick Note:
I apologize to everyone who reads my Adventure Time and Korra reviews, and is wondering where my reviews of the latest episodes are. I’ve been on vacation, and I’ve had really crap internet, meaning I can’t easily get the screenshots I want, and I can’t rewatch the episodes very easily. I’ll make sure I’m caught up before the next episodes air.

So I’ve decided that Wednesday and Sunday will be the days when I post new chapters of Marion’s Hideaway, so mark your calendars!

Story:

Tuck’s speech is today, and Marion really isn’t all that interested, to be blatantly honest. Instead, maybe she’ll have a drink and make a few new friends!

I began to zone away from Tuck’s speech. Don’t get me wrong, Forest politics are a good time and all that, but I think I’d rather be getting mauled by a bear at the moment. Unfortunately, there was not a bear to be seen.

Haven’t started reading my book yet? Well, first of all, read it because it’ll make me happy. But if you’re gonna need a bit more convincing than that, maybe I could provide a little story synopsis:

How often do we look deep inside ourselves, looking for happiness, only to find a whole new world? Marion, a 16 year old girl, lives in a self-created paradise, where everything is exactly the way she wants it. No troubles. No heart-breaks. No letdowns. However, one would say that the more attached we get to our minds, the more detached we are from what’s real. Today, the perfection dies.

Interested? You can begin reading it here.

Chapter 2: In A Forest Of Ignorance is Available Now!

It’s been awhile, but Chapter 2 of Marion’s Hideaway is finished and posted on Wattpad for your viewing pleasure!

Marion seems to be having a rough morning, but maybe an afternoon with her favorite guy friend will cheer her up!

I had never been good at communicating. One could say that I spent more time watching people live than living myself. I think I prefer it that way, though. It gives me an opportunity to think.

Still not convinced that my story is something worth reading? Well let me convince you some more with a synopsis of the story:

How often do we look deep inside ourselves, looking for happiness, only to find a whole new world? Marion, a 16 year old girl, lives in a self-created paradise, where everything is exactly the way she wants it. No troubles. No heart-breaks. No letdowns. However, one would say that the more attached we get to our minds, the more detached we are from what’s real. Today, the perfection dies.

I love the creative process, and writing is a great way to get those juices flowing. Marion’s Hideaway is an idea that I conducted last year, and it has changed quite a bit from when I first pitched the idea (the main characters were originally going to be platypus’s, or platy-people as I called them). I’d really appreciate it if you’d give it a read and tell me what you think. Also, this is my first time writing in a book format, so don’t expect perfection.
